Inspiring Music Playlist for Web Designers n. 01

When I work on my blog or a web project I like to have background music. It’s relaxing and help me find inspiration. In general I like to listen web radios with iTunes. iTunes allows you to access to a huge number of web radios indexed by category. My favorite station is All Chilled @ 181.FM (Radios > Ambient > All Chilled @ 181.FM) that plays a great selection of ambient and soft songs. With this post I want to start sharing with you a selection of my favorite music playlists dedicated to web designers. Here is the first playlist with ten beautiful songs. Good listening!

Stateless – BloodStream

World Citizen – David Sylvian and Ryuichi Sakamoto

The Cinematic Orchestra – To Build a Home

Gotye – Hearts A Mess

Cary Brothers – Ride

Sigour Ross – Saeglopur

The Go Find – New Year

Ivy – Four In The Morning

Skye – Love Show

Little Dragon – Twice

It’s a good selection, in other station, di.fm, there are good chillout, lounge and ambient channels.. or you can search in spotify fresh nordic music (soul and cosmic house, very light) and other classical chill artists like Goldfrapp, Portishead, Air, José Padilla..

As embarassing as it is, I never knew that iTunes streamed radio stations (it was not listed in my Library). This has simplified and integrated another one of my daily activities.

Nice list of songs. I put them (or the ones I could anyway) into a Spotify playlist so I can listen to them as I work. If anyone else has Spotify, here’s the link:

Great initiative Lee, and thanks for the post Antonio. I feel like listening to various genres when I am working, but when I feel a bit unfocused I can get back fast with some ambients without any lyrics.

      Have a nice weekend!

I really liked the Stateless song. I also enjoy the “mellow” background music as I develop.

Great Playlist. For Webdesign I prefer more aggresive Music. I listen to Metal and Grindcore. Just for writing I would use tracks from your Playlist.

Thx for that nice list! :-)
If you like more quiet music, I think you will also like the music from Christophe Huet, an extraordinary picture artist, wh composes music as well. Listen to the music on http://www.christophehuet.com/
You should find the Album “Lichens” on iTunes (I don’t use it).

Got to love The Cinematic Orchestra – To Build a Home, got me in an inspirational mood now so thanks :D Normally I listen to dubstep, techno or house but it makes a great change of pace to listen to a simple melody to get another angle on a piece of design I find. Once again thanks :) This also works well for development aspects ;)

Ida Maria – Fortress Round My Heart
    Zero 7 – Anything will do :-)
    William Fitzsimmons – Goodnight
    Kanye West – 808s & Heartbreak
    Goldfrapp – Supernature

‘Groove Salad from SomaFM’ is another very good radio station to listen to whilst working. It’s basically all ambient stuff, no vocals. I find that vocals distract me, especially when I’m writing emails.

You can find Groove Salad under the ‘electronica’ genre in the radio section of iTunes btw.

Thanks, Antonio! Great playlists. I discovered “Ride” by Cary Brothers from this list, and then came across the “Tiësto Radio Edit” version. Have a listen:
