The New Woork Up Is Here
When I started this blog on Blogger, just a little more than a couple of years ago, I was going through the darkest period of my life. A series of personal events had undermined my balance and completely screwed up my projects of the previous six years. All the things I cared the most suddenly crumbled. So quickly that I couldn’t but let myself be overwhelmed by that storm, unable to react. I sat back and watched the wave sweeping away my life and then slowly going, leaving nothing on its way back.
Until that moment I had always been a positive-thinking and resolute person. From then on I found myself facing the quintessence of misery. I couldn’t sleep, I began to lose weight, and spent a lot of time blaming myself for mistakes no one ever made. The worst part of the day was night. It never ended. It was a long and distressing monologue between myself and the ceiling. The nightmare lasted for more than one month. If I look back now it feels like an eternity. When I reached the bottom, a part of me decided not to persevere with the recent nihilistic attraction towards self-destruction.
I began devoting myself to my blog regularly, mainly at night. Writing helped me to focus on something else. It was a small personal success. This blog worked as a real rehab program. Things improved over time, with the same speed with which they fell a few weeks before. It was a kind of tiny and unexpected miracle. Starting today, Woork Up changes radically in style and content and thanks to the collaboration with Nicola Armellini, new executive editor of the blog, it will lead a path we hope you’ll enjoy. Nicola and I will have a more journalistic, more personal and opinion-driven approach to the articles that will cover various topics, from business, to social media, to tech trends and innovations.
If I look back at what already happened, it feels like it could work. And I know it will.
Congratz on getting it live, it’s looking great at first impression! :)
Thanks Marco. Do you like the new home page?
Looks brilliant, Antonio.
Content is really well laid out. Keep it up!
Thanks Matt :)
Absolutely brilliant, love the new layout. Content is laid out extremely well.
Glad the blog turned out to be a big site and thing in your life, I can see how much hard work you put into it.
PS: Link your logo to the home page! :)
Yes… I forget to link it! :)
The homepage is super clean, really like it Antonio! And i was just wondering the same as @David :P
I like the personal tough you are giving to Woork Up by sharing some of your (major) live events. Keep heading the right direction and Woork Up growing. Love the content!
In bocca al lupo Antonio, per tutto!
p.s. niente male il nuovo Woork Up :)
Thanks! :)
Congrats Antonio, looks great and I love the new homepage.
Congrats and good luck for this new adventure. I really like this new version!
Just wanted to say you GOOD LUCK ! btw, new design is just awesome !
I love your design style :)
This new website is looking awesome! Great new logo – good luck with everything!
nice antonio.. the design is cool for me
congrats Antonio, layout and design are very lovely and clean….
thumbs up! =)
:-)
Very impressive confession, I hope everything will be fine. The new design and contents still seem so interesting as before. I’ll keep connected.
I absolutely love the design, it’s simple and elegant and makes reading articles fun.
Love the logo too.
i’m just guessing the name “Woork up” has something in common with this story :)
BEST OF LUCK
Antonio,
good you are back. You enfaced a strong situation where there is only one solution:
if you are standing in the corner, walls behind, at the right and the left side, when you think you cannot continue, you can – walk straight ahead!
All best whishes for the good new start!
I love the new look. However, it seems that the design of the website changes more frequently than articles and posts added to it. Since March 2, there have only about 6 posts. That’s kind of disappointing from such a well known web development blog website. Perhaps some fault falls on the community, since we have not been doing much to talk about. However, I do hope we developers start giving you something to talk about over the Summer.
Antonio,
Great to hear that you’re back as we had already missed Woork Up articles.
Very nice!
Btw why is logo not aligned with navigation?
Hi Antonio,
The new design is great, both in terms of style and content organization. I just have a pet peeve with the 1px light grey border for the tabs on the very top navigation. Heh :) Looking forward to your new approach to the content.
Have fun and good luck!
I understand the path woorkup is going to take but I hope you won’t stop writing those tutorials that brought me (as well as other visitors) on this blog (while it was still hosted at blogspot).
Good luck!
i’m still remember your blog template in blogger… I like with your article on blogger and absolutely love with your theme… Good luck with your theme, your blog Antonio…
Love the new site, I have been reading the blog for a few years now and always think your post are really useful.
Antonio, this new face of woorkup looks really cool. Woorkup now looks like one of the famous news blogs… great going :-)
Awesome !! I always admire your work. Daily Inspired template by you enjoy a great reputation on blogosphere and now you’ve designed such an attractive theme for Woorkup. I am eager to know : How long it takes you to design a theme ?
I spent some weeks to find a layout I liked!
I just hope this blog doesn’t become on of those blogs that produce tons of content by month making it impossible to keep up to date.
No Mario, Woork Up will not become anything like!
I first became aware of Woork through your HTML 5 Visual Cheat Sheet. Your post really made stop as I was going through my feed reader. By the sounds of what you have personally worked through, I’m sure you will be able to achieve you goal and much, much more.
Your new layout presents very nicely. Congratulations.
Thank a lot Tina :)
Thank a lot for your comment Tina :)
Thanks for sharing your story. I hope things continue to go well for you.
Thanks for your support Mark. I really appreciate!
Absolutely great. Perfect contrast for reading. Simple is more. Should inspire me for upcoming job.
Love the new design!
The most amazing thing was “the woork handbook”!!
waiting for more…go..go..Antonio!! :)
It looks great. Congratulations on getting it up and running.
Antonio, in my view, there are two components to life: what happens, and what you say about what happens. What happens is just what happens. What you choose to say about what happens has the most impact on the quality of your life. What you say about it and being a stand for your word in the matter of your life is *always* your choice. It can resolve ANY circumstance and can prevent future ones from happening. Happiness demands and accepts no excuses. This is what I think of when as Ive followed your work ethic.
I’m a better designer and resource because of your so called small unexpected big miracle! You’ve created a following and a community which is no small feat. Thank You for all the hours spent creating, writing, posting, scoping out the web so that we could share in the benefit of the resources you’ve discovered and created for us. Your attentiveness, accessibility and openness to new ideas is very appreciated. The way you’ve impacted our life and work most of the time will go unacknowledged. For me personally it has been HUGE! I want to acknowledge you for all you hard work you’ve put into this blog. I’m excited to see and be a part of whats next at woorkup.com.
Cheers to you!!! Congratulations and keep moving forward!!!
Thanks a lot Aline! :)
Glad to have you back.
Very impressive..
great redesign! I love the grid. Great job Antonio!
best of luck! Welcome back.
Antonio always enjoy reading your blog, good luck with the new business relationship. Love the new design!
Yupeee, wookup revamped. Its looks more professional now.
But, why there is no home link on logo?
Hi Antonio,
The new design is great, looks very professionnal. However, I’ve got a little suggestion, but I think this is just an oversight from you : a favicon would be nice ! ;)
Thanks by the way for sharing your thoughts and experience.
Best regards.
Jeremy
Hey Antonio,
cheers :)
In bocca al lupo! :) Vedrai passerà!
Wao nice theme i love it. You allways have a nice a unique theme for you blog and thats nice. You have what other would like to the ability to do what you whant whit the theme and have good resoul whit it.
Keep up.
i love the new design but why isnt it possible to click on the logo to get “home”?
I like the new design as well.
It makes me hopeful for the launch of my own blog, coming in the next couple of weeks.
Looking great!
Excellent! the design is clean and elegant! “woork up” is like the first book about HTML and CSS i read and fallen love with it, though i’m still a begginner but i love it! I’ve learnt a lot and still learning! I’ve downloaded “the woork handbook”, “WOORK – HTML 5 Cheat Sheet”, “CSS2-Visual-Cheat-Sheet,” “the typoork template” etc. Those are really helping me to learn!
Wish you all the best luck Antonio and hope I can always learn from here!
Keeping it UP! :)
Very nice the new design! However I spotted a small typo (if you’re I perfectionist like I am). On my computer the Facebook Like button is replaced with the Romanian version (“Îmi place). Because it’s longer than the English Like button, the number of “likes” is truncated: For instance, for this article I see only 1 like, however there are 17. On another article I saw only half of the number 6.
If I go with the cursor on it and I drag it to the right I am then aloud to see the extreme right side of that button. I guess this also happens with other languages that have a longer translation, including Italian “Mi piace”.
Antonio! Ma io voglio cliccare il logo per tornare alla Home :)
il tab “Home” proprio non mi piace: è un pò come un link “clicca qui”.
Il logo deve essere linkato alla home.
Good job, anyway: very good job.
i like this because simple and fast
really it is simple, clean and nice as usual Antonio ….! like it
