As some of us say: shape is king. By today's standards it's way too heavy (and the original MX500 was around 80 grams!) - I wish it was lighter, but the shape is just irresistible!
If you were a fan of the original, you will find this a acceptable replacement.
Update:
I have noticed there has been a large price increase for this mouse. At the current price it’s is much less of a deal. If I was in the market, I would still buy it, but be unhappy with the price.

This is that mouse, revamped for modern times. The Hero sensor might not be to everyone's liking out of the box, but once customised in the G-Hub, even me and my "I love the Hyperion Fury sensor" self can get along with it.
Yes, there's no fancy RGB, but then not everything needs to be a disco show, especially because your hand is going to be covering it most of the time.
25600 dpi is absurdly fast, you'l probably set it there once, see how hilariously useless it is for precision work (although it is brilliant for prop killing in TTT, because you can get some serious momentum up with a very small flick), and turn it down to something sensible.
Ergonomically, it is a bit on the big side. It's also shaped for right handers, although that doesn't stop my left handed wife from using it and loving it. We really shouldn't be in an era where ambidextrous mice are an exception, we can easily have changeable side plates for things like this.
The other thing with the size of the mouse is that this thing *echos*. Mouse clicks are solid, but there's a lot of empty space inside this mouse, where components are smaller. Not a problem if you're wearing headphones, but wife was playing, and I thought the fridge was failing because of the clicking happening while it was freshly loaded up.
Overall, it's a great design, so much so that Logitech brought it back, it's a great sensor, and is just brilliant for gaming use, and hugely recommended.
