Grade Calculator Instructions

This grade calculator tool is used to calculate the average grade that you will need to get on future assignments to end up with your desired final grade based on the current scores you’ve received so far and how much those scores and their weights impact your overall grade.

To start, enter the grades you’ve received for the assignments you’ve already completed. Enter these as a percentage out of 100, so for example, if you got a 90% or 90/100, enter 90.

Next, enter the weights for each grade that you entered previously. These are also a percentage out of 100, so for example, if a grade is weighted or worth 5% of your overall grade, enter 5. Each grade you enter needs to have a corresponding weight entered as well for this grade calculator to be able to determine your needed average effectively.

Finally, at the bottom of the form, enter the final grade you want to end up with. This should also be entered as a percentage out of 100, so for example, if you want to end with a final grade of 90% or 90/100, enter 90.

After you’ve filled out all of your existing grades, their weights, and your desired final grade, click the Calculate button and your results will be displayed at the top of the form. If there are any problems with the data you entered, an error will display at the top of the form with a tip on what to fix to get the calculator to print your desired results correctly.

Disclaimer

This grade calculator will give you a future average needed to end up with your desired final grade. It does not take the weights of future assignments into account. Obviously, assignments that are weighted higher will have a bigger impact on your final grade than those that are weighted lower. While the average that this tool will give you is a helpful rule of thumb to keep you on track, it is important to pay attention to the weights of future assignments as well.
