The Kinsta affiliate program is great (signup bonuses + lifetime recurring commissions)

I was one of Kinsta’s first customers. I fell in love with their managed WordPress hosting service so much that I didn’t think twice when an opportunity to join their team opened up. Fast forward a couple of years, I’m doing my own thing again, and am just a happy user and affiliate. I got to be a part of creating the initial Kinsta affiliate program, and I personally think it’s one of the best in the industry.

Thoughts on the affiliate program

For those of you who don’t know, Kinsta is a premium managed WordPress host, powered by Google Cloud Platform. Being as I used to work there and being an affiliate marketer nerd myself, I got to give input on what I know everyone wants. And that is recurring commissions! 🙌

I treat this woorkup blog a little differently than others in my space. I tend only to share what I actually use. With that being said, I still take advantage of affiliate programs when they make sense. And the first thing I always want is a way to build my passive income.

I could care less about one-time $20 commissions here or there. Passive income will trump that for me every single time. Kinsta’s affiliate program is one of the only ones in the WordPress hosting industry to offer not only signup commissions but also recurring commissions. This means you can truly build your passive income.

Program details

  • You earn $50 to $500 after every signup, based on the type of WordPress hosting plan you refer.
  • You get 10% monthly recurring commissions on top of the signup bonus, which continues for the lifetime of the customer.
  • They also offer database and application hosting, in which you can get 5% monthly recurring commissions.
  • Long 60-day cookie for those sign-ups dragging their feet. Moving to a new host is a pretty big deal for some, especially those with larger and more complex WordPress installations.
  • Last-touch attribution to make sure the right person gets the credit.
  • Monthly payments straight to your PayPal account.
  • You don’t need to be a Kinsta customer to take part in the affiliate program.
Are you serious?

Yes, I’m being serious right now. 🤑 Kinsta’s churn rate is 2%, meaning that once people sign up, they rarely leave. They also launched $35/month plans. This is excellent news for you affiliate marketers because it opens the doors to a broader audience that can convert.

Affiliate dashboard

The Kinsta team, including myself, are perfectionists. Sometimes that is good, and sometimes that can be a curse. But it means Kinsta wants to do things the right way from the get-go. Design and using the latest technology is always a priority.

That’s why Kinsta decided to build its own affiliate dashboard from the ground up. I don’t think anyone can say that they love ShareASale or ImpactRadius. One thing that I really dislike about ShareASale is that you can’t unsubscribe from emails when you’re a member of a program.

The Kinsta affiliate dashboard is beautiful and blazing fast. If you aren’t a customer of Kinsta, this looks very similar to their MyKinsta dashboard.

One of the big benefits of Kinsta building the dashboard was that they could build any functionality they needed right into it. Especially when it comes to giving users more in-depth data about each referral. You can see when someone signs up, when they upgrade, when they downgrade, you name it. Track each referral in their own personal funnel.

And of course, they have all the pretty banners and such as others do to make promotion quick and easy.

One of my pet peeves with some affiliate programs is the crazy pre-set pages with links. Kinsta simply did away with this mess and let you link to any page on their entire website. You simply input the place, and it will create your affiliate link. Want to link directly to their plans or features page? Done!

And being as you want to follow best practices for SEO, your affiliate links are automatically generated with “nofollow” attributes. This ensures you don’t drop a dofollow affiliate link in your footer, which is a big no-no when it comes to Google.

Summary

A lot of what Kinsta does is based purely on client feedback. So you can expect their affiliate program to keep improving. I would love to hear what you think about it. Have you signed up yet? Are there any features you think Kinsta is missing?
