Take Advantage of Free StumbleUpon Referral Traffic

If you aren’t utilizing social networks at this point then you are way behind the game. I have a few sites that are receiving 20% of their traffic from Facebook, and that traffic is also converting into paying customers. Another social network that it sometimes overlooked is StumbleUpon. A couple of my sites each receive about 150-200 unique visits every month just from StumbleUpon alone. What I will show you in this article is how to hook up WordPress to autopost to StumbleUpon, and once it is setup it requires no additional work on your part. Wouldn’t you like to gain an extra 100-200 visitors a month simply by taking 5 minutes and setting up a free plugin?

Step 1

Sign up for a free StumbleUpon account here: https://www.stumbleupon.com/

Step 2

Now back in WordPress we are going to install a free plugin called “NextScripts: Social Networks Auto-Poster.” In WordPress under Plugins go down to “Add New,” do a search for NextScripts: Social Networks Auto Poster and click on “Install Now” and then click “OK.”

Step 3

Click on “Activate Plugin.”

Step 4

Now under “Settings” click into “SNAP” and click on the green “Add New Account” button.

Step 5

From the drop down menu select “StumbleUpon”, give a nickname to your account and input your StumbleUpon account credentials which you created in Step 1. Then choose a default category, one that is close and matches your niche. Leave everything else default and click on “Update Settings.”

And that is it! Every post you make will now show up on StumbleUpon and get ready to start receiving referral traffic!

Here is an example of what my StumbleUpon page looks like, and remember this is all automated.

    • I have seen both happen… It really depends on your niche. The plugin is free, so I suggest giving it a try at least.
